Sanlorenzo Unveils Second 74Steel Virtuosity — A Story of Co-Creation

74STEEL_VIRTUOSITY

Sanlorenzo has unveiled Virtuosity, the second hull in its 74Steel line, in a project that moves beyond conventional superyacht design to explore how space, nature and architecture can be brought together on board.

Developed over more than four years in close collaboration with the owner, Sanlorenzo and Studio Paolo Ferrari, Virtuosity is not simply a new yacht, but a highly personal interpretation of life at sea. Built on the same diesel-electric platform as the first 74Steel, it combines proven engineering with a more expressive spatial concept, allowing the design to respond to the owner’s vision without compromising the technical framework beneath it.

A Design Shaped Around a Vision

What distinguishes Virtuosity is the way it was conceived from the inside out. Rather than beginning with a fixed interior layout and adapting it later, the project developed through dialogue, with the owner’s ideas gradually translated into a complete architectural concept. This process took shape over years of discussion before construction even began, resulting in a yacht that feels considered rather than assembled.

At the centre of this concept is a living Ficus Nitida, which rises through two decks and serves as a defining architectural element. The tree was selected before the first structural block was assembled, and the yacht was designed around it. More than a decorative gesture, it creates a sense of vertical openness and brings a natural focal point into the main living spaces.

Spaces That Flow

Virtuosity introduces numerous features that extend the idea of onboard living in different directions. On the lower deck, the Ocean Resort creates a large leisure area designed to open the yacht to the sea, while a submerged aquarium integrated into the hull brings an underwater dimension into the interior experience. A glass-bottom pool adds another layer of visual connection between the decks, while wellness spaces including a hammam, sauna and massage room reinforce the yacht’s emphasis on comfort and atmosphere.

The arrangement of these areas is deliberate. Rather than treating each space as separate, the design creates a continuous sequence that allows the yacht to feel connected from one deck to the next. Light, water and materials are used to shape the experience, giving the vessel a sense of calm movement rather than static formality.

Collaboration at the Core

Virtuosity also reflects the collaborative nature of Sanlorenzo’s approach. The yacht brings together the shipyard’s Style Department, Studio Paolo Ferrari and Zuccon International Project, with exterior lines and interior architecture developed in parallel. The result is a yacht that remains clearly recognisable as Sanlorenzo, while expressing a more individual and refined character.

The exterior profile has been reinterpreted with a more dynamic stance, while the interiors focus on proportion, light and continuity. This balance between identity and personalisation is central to the project, and it is what gives Virtuosity its significance within the 74Steel line.

A New Expression of the Line

As the second hull in the 74Steel series, Virtuosity builds on the technical base of the original concept while showing how far the platform can evolve. It demonstrates that a strong engineering foundation can support a more ambitious and personal design language, one that is shaped by both innovation and restraint.

For Sanlorenzo, the project reinforces the potential of the 74Steel line as a platform for bespoke thinking at the highest level. For the owner, it offers a yacht defined not by excess, but by a clear architectural idea brought carefully to life.
