Sanlorenzo proudly celebrates the launch of the second unit of the revolutionary 50Steel – a superyacht that continues to redefine the sub-500 GT market.
With five units already fully allocated, 50Steel has quickly become a benchmark for those seeking visionary design and uncompromising individuality. Launched on 1 Feb from our Superyacht Shipyard in La Spezia, this second unit brings together the bold architectural signature of Zuccon International Project with bespoke interiors by Sanlorenzo’s Style Department, creating an exceptional balance of space, comfort and atmosphere.
More than a launch, this milestone confirms Sanlorenzo’s ability to shape the future of yachting.
A New Era of Sustainable Yachting
The 50Steel is at the forefront of sustainable yachting with the integration of a green-methanol reformer fuel cell system, developed in partnership with Siemens Energy . This is the first application of such technology on a superyacht, allowing the vessel to power all its hotel functions with zero emissions. The system reforms green methanol into hydrogen, which is then converted into electrical energy, producing up to 100 kilowatts of power. This covers approximately 90% of the yacht’s typical operational profile at anchor without running the main engines or diesel generators .
Green methanol is a renewable and readily available fuel, with a circular carbon profile that significantly reduces the yacht’s environmental impact. The system has been awarded a dedicated certification from Lloyd’s Register, validating its safety and environmental compliance .
The 50Steel’s innovative spirit extends to its architecture, which features five offset decks. This staggered arrangement, a departure from the traditional stacked layout, creates a series of interlocking volumes with enhanced visibility and a more open, connected feel. The result is a yacht with generous headroom, particularly in the dining room where the ceiling soars to 3.7 meters, and a dynamic interplay of spaces that flow into one another .
The exterior lines, penned by Zuccon International Project, are clean and elegant, while the interior of the first unit, designed by Piero Lissoni, showcases a sophisticated and residential aesthetic. The use of an integrated 3D modeling process for the first time on a Sanlorenzo yacht ensured a seamless integration of design and engineering from the outset.
The market has responded with enthusiasm to the 50Steel’s innovative design and forward-thinking technology. With five units already sold and three more in production, the 50Steel has firmly established itself as a leader in the sub-500 GT segment .
